At CES there are always quite a few gadgets and computers announced to the world. Typically there is so much going on that a wide variety of new ideas are overshadowed by others. There were quite a few tablets announced at CES most of which are now overshadowed by discussions about Apple’s iPad. One unique device that is being developed by a few companies is the tablet and netbook hybrid computer.

Many are split on whether a tablet or netbook will be better. A netbook gives the user a normal laptop type experience, while a tablet feels more like a larger phone, PDA, or ebook device. There are some in development that can do both.

With the screen attached to the computer, it runs like a normal netbook. The keyboard side has a CPU with Windows installed to the system and it’s own battery. Once the screen it detached from the device, it becomes an almost instant on Android tablet. The screen has it’s own CPU and battery to run the Android operating system and is controlled via a touch screen.

This might be the type of device that one can get a full working experience on while also picking up the screen to casually browse the web, watch movies, or other tasks.

Many of these are going to cost around $1000 meaning that some might opt to get a separate tablet and netbook instead of having them combined as it will be about the same price.

Regardless if the first generation devices catch on, it’s a good move to give users the traditional feel while also having a tablet experience in one device.

Besides writing informative technology and computer articles Lance also writes on chair and table sets like a Folding Banquet Table and Cheap Folding Chairs.
