Tablet computers are have been around for some time but never go nearly as much attention as they are in 2010. The main reason for attention is the newer slimmer and sleeker designs that get rid of physical keyboards. With all that has been see so far in 2010 the industry really has nowhere to go but up.

The concept behind the tablet started being dreamed up back in the late 1800′s but only started becoming a reality in mid-1900′s. Now in 2010 all those dreams are starting to finally be realized thanks to the large leaps in technology. The tablet product has to go to the Apple iPad which was launched in mid-Summer of 2010.

Now the question is what is the tablets future looking like as a portable PC? Well as of 2009 the only alternative if you were seeking a portable PC was to get a netbook, netbook’s are mini-laptops with a 10.1″ display size. In 2010 news of tablets finally being ready for public release started to show themselves but the netbook market didn’t just go away actually it saw a big increase in sales.

Tablets as they are now are available in Windows, Android and Mac versions. The future holds more available tablet in the three different sub-categories, that’s for sure. Some tablets to keep your eye out for in the near future are the Notion Ink Adam Tablet, ASUS Eee Pad EP101TC & EP121, Samsung Tab, MSI WindPad 100 and HP’s yet to be named WebOS tablet.

Some say that Google is on a diehard mission to take over the world. They already have a world-dominating search engine, PPC program, Android OS, Google maps with an eerily accurate portrayal of everyone’s neighborhood, and much more! What other Google features can you think of off the top of your head? Lots, we’re sure! If you can’t think of any more, we know what you will do, you’ll Google it!

This leads one to wonder: What will Google dominate next?

The internet tablet industry is what seems most likely, at least the operating system for such touch screen tablets. Google has two operating systems as of late: Chrome OS and Android. Chome OS seems to be a futile flop with few fans, but Android (the ever popular operating system for smart phones) looks promising for the inevitable creation of a new Google hyped internet tablet to join the likes of the Apple iPad and boost the increasingly popular Archos Android tablet line that is due for release soon. A new line of Android tablets has already started rolling out from Archos, but can it outsell and outperform the iPad?

What operating system will ultimately come out on top? Android or iOS? If Android can manage to tackle Apple and the touch screen tablet market, will it stop there? Knowing Google, probably not. Since 1998, Google has been effectively taking control of the web. Android started on phones and is now being used for tablets. Where will we find Android next?

In my opinion, I think we’re going to find it just about everywhere. From the next generation of kitchen appliances to WiFi connected cars. Google has been running the PowerMeter project for over two years now to monitor electricity usage. Now your power meter can listen to your appliances. It’s only a matter of time before they start listening back.

Imagine driving home from work. Your GPS notices you are a few miles away from the grocery store. Your car talks to your fridge and sees you are out of milk. Fridge quickly searches the weekly Safeway Ad and sends you a text message telling you milk is half off this week. It’s also sending you the grocery list you entered in the touch screen of the fridge door and it took the courtesy of finding a couple coupons for items on the list and just sent them to your cell phone so the cashier can scan them. Your GPS gets the address of the store and plots a route. After the grocery store, you stop for coffee and pull out your internet tablet. While you are checking news and email, you get a message from your thermostat saying that it knows you are on your way home. The temp in the house is 89 degrees, would you like it to kick on the A/C when you are a mile away? Science fiction or inevitable reality in 5 years?

Is that convenient and super awesome, or is it just plain creepy that Google has the potential to poke and pry into every aspect of your life? Is it just an Android tablet or is it world domination?

Wayne Hemrick writes about–the touchscreen tablet

Android, Catch the Wave of the Future!

Android isn’t just for cellphones anymore. Which means that there will come a day when Android is more important than the iPhone, more important than Windows, and more important than any one device.

Android is an open source operating system created by Google for primary use on smartphones, and is currently in use on many cellphones such as the Motorola Droid, the HTC Droid Eris, the HTC Hero, the HTC Desire, the MyTouch 3G Slide, and the Dell Streak.

Recently there’s been a developer release of the Android operating system for use on the x86 archictecture, which will eventually allow Android to be ported to tablets, netbooks and even onto laptops and desktops, as well as onto many other devices, such as set-top boxes, video game systems, home control systems and other things not even thought of yet.

Android is written in Java on a modified version of the Linux kernel. Because of its open architecture, it’s easy for developers to build applications to run on the Android operating system. Unlike the Apple closed architecture, with its draconian gatekeepers, anyone capable of coding can write an application to run on Android. And if Google’s rules are followed, that application will be made available to all Android users.

What that means to you is that if you want your cellphone to do something it doesn’t currently do, and there isn’t an Android application that does it, you have the ability to contract with a developer to have an application built that will allow your cellphone to do exactly what you want, though there are also developer groups who, if the idea is a great one, may take your project on in exchange for the ability to put their name on it and offer servicing and customization of that application, which is the way open source works. The sky is the limit!

As of this writing there are approximately two Android phones activated per second. Because Android is offered on so many great phones, with many new ones to be launched soon, it won’t be long before Android phones hold a greater market share than any other operating system on any other phone, including the iPhone, especially since the Android 2.2 Froyo release supports Adobe Flash, a sticking point with the iPhone and other cellphones. Android 2.2 Froyo is right now being rolled out to the Nexus One, and will soon be available for most other Android phones.

The Future of Tablet Computing

People are always intrigued by fresh new technological enhancements, and it seems like in today’s society technology is constantly progressing and improving on a regular basis. It is rare to walk into a household that does not have a laptop computer, let alone a desktop computer, so it has become apparent that keeping up with today’s electronics craze is a growing trend among people of all ages, who branch out from all walks of life. Whether you are a distinguished businessman, a teenager going away to college, or an avid online gamer, you are going to want to invest some time and effort into the selection process of what type of computer will be best for your individual circumstances.

One of the most eye-catching products on the market today is the Apple iPad tablet. Seeing how much of a hit the Apple iPhone has been, it came as no surprise that the iPod Touch would be much loved product that was soon followed by the iPad. The iPad is a lightweight electronics device that is ideal for traveling because it is easily transported and highly entertaining for trips. It is great for saving data, listening to music, and browsing the web. Additionally, the Apple iPad is a head turner because it looks just like a larger version of the iPod Touch or the iPhone. Leave it to Apple to push the boundaries of a device that already pushes society’s technological boundaries to begin with. The Apple iPad does just that by providing people with the beautiful, sleek, and elegant design that people are falling head over heels in love with.

Reviews are leaving marks all over the internet with people’s feedback pertaining to the iPad, and it’s features that are making society stir. People seem to love that all of the iPad applications that are available to download in the catalog are tested by Apple prior to being released to the public. Such enhancements give people the satisfaction and peace of mind of knowing that their devices are safe and that all of their methods of personalization, involving applications, has been held to rigorous security standards. In general, people love the ability to represent themselves through their personal appearances and coinciding accessories, ranging from jewelry to electronics. Everyone wants to exude a sense of individuality, and with the Apple iPad tablet, people have an open ended deal with customization and personalization. You can change the colors, themes, and sounds of your iPad touch, and when your iPad in use draws attention from those around you, they will be able to get a sense of your personal attributes.

One of the most effective ways of assessing what type of electronics devices are best for you as an individual, is to use the internet as an effective research tool and look at various products under a more meticulous lens. Another successful way of determining which products are most suiting for you is to head down to your local electronics store and personally explore different products. When you have the chance to personally investigate an iPad in use, you will get a feel for the product that will help you to draw the most probable and practical conclusions. For students, frequent travelers, executives, and webmasters, the Apple iPad seems to have something to offer in offer to enhance everyone’s personal technological experience. Whether you want to immerse yourself in something extreme and develop your own software for the iPad, or you want to make the most of something simple such as extended travel time, the starting point of your journey is embraced by the simple, happy medium where research meets individuality and technology.

By exploring an iPad in use, you will get to make the most of all the wonderful features provided by the Apple iPad tablet.
